Collection: Mhanny Yaoud
Mhanny Yaoud was born in Dakhla Oasis, Egypt, in 1985 and currently lives and works between Cairo and Minia. He is a visual artist and a Painting Lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Minia University. Yaoud holds a Master’s degree in Painting from Minia University, awarded in 2015, and a PhD in Philosophy of Fine Arts, specializing in Painting, which he received in 2020. His doctoral research, titled “Surfaces with Irregular Shapes and Textures as a Creative Motive in Contemporary Painting,” explores the creative potential of unconventional surfaces and textures within contemporary painting.
Yaoud’s artistic achievements include receiving the CIB Bank Collectibles Prize at the Cairo Youth Salon in 2011, the Oriental Weavers Prize at the Cairo Youth Salon in 2008, and the DAI Painting Prize at the DAI Festival for Arab Youth at DAI Art Gallery in 2018.
Since 2008, Yaoud has participated extensively in international exhibitions, workshops, and art festivals across Egypt, France, Italy, Romania, Austria, Tunisia, Canada, the United States, and Morocco. His exhibition history includes the Egypt International Art Fair in 2020, 2021, and 2022; Cairo Art Fair at TAM Gallery from 2016 to 2019; and the Living Units international touring exhibition, presented in Cairo, Vienna, Bucharest, and Morocco between 2016 and 2019.
His international participation also includes A New Legacy: Contemporary Art of Egypt at Falls Church Arts Gallery in Virginia, USA, in July 2019; Times of Art at Picasso Art Gallery in 2018; the 4th International Borullus Art Festival for Painting on Walls and Boats in 2017; and Humans and Identity at Made In Art Gallery in Italy in 2016. His exhibition history further includes Generations at Picasso Gallery in Cairo in 2012 and Printemps du Nil in Paris in 2011.
Yaoud has also presented his work through solo exhibitions, including Chroma at Azad Art Gallery in 2020 and Intersecting Identities at Art Smart Gallery in Cairo in 2017. Through his sustained engagement with painting, exhibitions, and international artistic exchange, Yaoud has established a practice rooted in an ongoing exploration of surface, texture, identity, and contemporary visual expression.
